The conical leaf hat is one of the typical symbols of the Vietnamese culture because it cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The leaf hat is not only a symbol of Vietnames girls and women, but also has become a part of spirit of the Vietnamese nation.
The hat is made from a special kind of bamboo and young, soft palm leaves. It has a conical form. The diameter of the hat is from 45 to 50 cm and it is from 25 to 30 cm high. The form is covered with the palm leaves. Finally, the hat is painted with a coat of attar oil.
The leaf hat is used like an umbrella to protect people from the sun or the rain. Beneath the broad rims of the leaf hat, girls and women look prettier and more attractive.
The "ao dai" is the most recognizable traditional Vietnamese costume. It is also a symbol to show the national pride like the conical leaf hat.
The word "ao dai" was originally applied to the outfit worn at the court of the Nguyen Lords at Hue in the 18th century. For centuries, it is the traditional dress of Vietnamese women. With the special design, it is made from a tight - fitting silk tunic that is slit on the slides and worn over loose pants. Now many fashion designers want to change "ao dai" into modern styles. Some have printed lines of poetry on the "ao dai". Others have add symbols from nature such as: sun, star, flowers,... or cross, stripes to make this costume more beautiful.
Nowadays, "ao dai" is not only worn by women, but also by men. In some special occasions like Tet holiday, wedding or meeting, people wear this traditional costume to express the national pride.

In Vietnam, wedding is very important, not only to the couple involved but also for both families. Thus, it is usually included quite a few formal ritual observances.
The wedding is usually chosen well in advance by the groom and the bride’s parents. On the wedding day, the groom’s family and relatives go to the bride’s house bringing a lot of gifts wrapped in red cloths. These gifts must include betel leaves, areca nuts, wines, fruits and tea. The groom’s family would stop in front of the bride’s house. The leading couple should enter the house first, bringing a tray with wine and tiny cups on it. They would invite the bride’s parents to take a sip. By accepting a toast, the bride’s family agree for the groom’s family to enter their house. The groom’s family would introduce themselves and ask permission for their son to married his bride. The master of the ceremony, usually a respected person among the bride’s relatives instructs the bride’s parents to present their daughter. The bride then follows her parents out. She is in traditional wedding ‘Ao dai’ , which is usually in red. The wedding ceremony starts in front of the altar, the bride and the groom would kneel down and pray, asking their ancestor’s permission to be married, also asking for blessing on their family to be. The couple then turn around and bow down to the bride’s parents to say thank for raising and protecting her since birth. They then bow their head to each other, which means to show their gratitude and respect toward their soon to be husband or wife. The groom and the bride then exchange wedding rings. The ceremony is ended with a round of applause.
Today, a lot of Vietnamese couples have their wedding ceremony done in temples or churches, which is very much similar to Western style, including changing vowels. However, they still maintain Vietnamese traditional ceremony in the bride’s home before heading to churches or temples.

Seoul is the capital of Korea, the largest city in Korea, and its population is one of the largest in all over the world. More than half of the Korean population is concentrated here, and it makes Seoul a cultural and political center of Korea. When anyone mentions Korea, a lot people immediately think of the K-pop music market and the internationally popular artists. If you are a big fan of K-pop, some big entertainment companies are unmissable places to visit. By stopping by there, we can see and buy idol-related products; and if we are lucky enough, we can meet and get their autographs when they come by the company. After meeting famous people, we can visit the palace or the historical museum of Korea. Besides sightseeing, eating is also important thing that we should do in Seoul. Seoul is home to almost every traditional Korean food such as kimchi, sticky rice cakes, rice wine, soju etc. It is nothing more interesting than eating steak with a bowl of hot boiling kimchi soup, and enjoying some glasses of soju in Korea's cold weather. Besides, Seoul is also a city of sport since it hosted the Asian Games 1986, the 1988 Summer Olympics, and this was also one of the host cities of the 2002 World Cup. There are a lot of special things about Seoul that have not been mentioned yet, but it is still enough to see that Seoul is a lovely and worth-living city.

It is held on the 15thday on the 8thlunar month (often in late September or early October) in the middle of autumn and it is celebrated for a whole day. Moon cakes are the specific cakes and are only on this festival. Moon cake, which is made from flavour, meat, egg, dried fruit, pumpkin’s seed, peanut, is so sweet and good tasting. Everyone sounds “How delicious Moon cakes are!” after tasting them and can’t say no with them. Moon cakes symbolise Luck, Happiness, Health and Wealth on the Mid-Autumn day.
Besides that, the children are provided with many nice lanterns - star lanterns, flower lanterns and diverse funny masks such as clown mask, lion mask, prince or princess mask for the special performance in the evening of the full moon. Everywhere is fallen in the active and colourful air. The main point of the Mid-Autumn is that children use the beautiful lanterns, wear funny masks, perform fantastic lion dances, sing folklore songs in the house’s grounds or in the streets when the moon is rising. It is really an exciting show.
The Mid-Autumn celebration is an opportunity for members of the family to visit together and share together everything in their year. The young generation express their gratitude to the old generation. The parents show their love for their children. Because the autumn is the time of the beginning of the new school year, so the adults and parents give gifts to the children. And the teenagers receive a lot of presents with many good luck wishes before the hard school time. The symbol PhD which is made from paper represents good wishes for success to pupils. For others, because the traditional time to have this festival is usually after harvesting the crops, it is as the congratulation for the full harvest.
Nowadays, although some of the traditional toys have been replaced by modern toys, the meaning and the performance has been kept and developed. It is certain that the Mid-Autumn day is important and famous for Vietnamese people. Everyone wants to join in it. And it really is a good example of the traditional culture of the Vietnamese.
What is the festival you attended? Describe it
My family and I attended the Buffalo – fighting Festival in Do Son last year. This festival is held every year, on August 9th according to Lunar calendar. The Buffalo – fighting Festival is held to remember the merits of gods, maintain the village discipline, to play for the prosperity and happiness for the local people. People played drum, danced and watched the buffalos. The drum sound and the scream of people urge the buffalo to play in a fierce way. Many buffalo owners, local people and tourists came to the festival. The festival was really fascinating and amazing.
